Motivations for Establishment

  Speech information technologies such as speech recognition, speech synthesis and speaker recognition are spotlighted as one of ten most promising technologies in the 21th century.

 There are 20 or so companies that are specialized in developing these technologies in our country, and more than 100 domestic companies utilize them.

 Speech information technologies are applicable in all the fields of industries, and their rapid growth is expected.

 The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy is taking systematic measures to assist this industry for the purpose of turning traditional industries into those with high added value, to present model of development for information industry, and to foster strategic industries for future overseas export.

 For this purpose the SiTEC has been established at Wonkwang University with the aid of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in order to resolve common difficulties.
